Car rental prices in Morocco: real budget and all the costs
What a car rental in Morocco really costs: daily rate, deposit, excess, insurance and extras. No invented figures.
The daily rate is the starting point, not the total budget. Here is how to read a Moroccan rental offer and identify every cost to compare properly.
What the daily rate includes (and does not)
The displayed daily rate generally includes: vehicle provision, basic third-party liability and sometimes partial collision cover. It does not systematically include: the immobilised deposit, the excess-reduction option, fuel, tolls, out-of-hours fees or off-site delivery.
Before comparing two offers on the daily rate alone, open each listing and read the condition details. On Udrive, verified agencies show included options and exclusions — compare on the same basis for a meaningful result.
Costs to anticipate
**Deposit**: amount held on your card (or cash depending on the agency) for the rental period. Not debited but reduces your available balance. Amount varies by category and agency; released after damage-free return inspection.
**Excess**: your residual liability if a partially covered damage occurs. A high excess + reduction option = better cover but higher cost. No universal figure: check each agency's listing.
**Fuel**: almost always your responsibility. Check fuel type and contracted level at departure. Returning below the agreed level can trigger a surcharge.
**Mileage**: if the contract caps daily kilometres, calculate your trips before signing. Overage triggers per-km fees stated in the contract. Choose unlimited mileage if you are linking several destinations.
**Other fees**: out-of-hours, second driver, off-site pickup or return, cleaning. These must appear in the contract; decline extras added verbally at the desk without written confirmation.
How to compare effectively on Udrive
Filter your city, dates and desired category. For each result, look at: daily rate × duration + excess option + estimated deposit hold. This total gives a more honest comparison base than the headline price alone.
Agencies with transparent badges (zero deposit, insurance included) simplify the maths; still read the detailed conditions before confirming. The lowest price is not always cheapest overall if the excess is very high.
If unsure about a line item, ask the agency via the contact form. No figure in this article guarantees an actual price: rates vary by season, category and each agency's specific offer.
