Car rental insurance and excess in Morocco
Understand the excess (franchise), CDW and what is really covered before you book a car in Morocco.
The daily rate rarely tells the full protection story. Here is how to read excess, CDW and options so you are not surprised later.
Basic cover vs optional extras
Most Moroccan rentals include third-party liability and collision cover with an excess. The excess is what you still pay if a partially covered claim occurs.
“Excess reduction” or “super CDW” options lower that amount, sometimes to zero outside exclusions (tyres, underbody, undeclared drivers). Read the vehicle sheet on Udrive before you confirm.
Questions to ask the agency
Exact excess amount, deposit release timing, exclusions (glass, accessory theft) and the accident procedure. Get these points in writing on the contract.
Photograph the car at pickup: it is your best evidence if bodywork is disputed later.
True total cost
Compare the full picture: daily rate + excess option + immobilised deposit. A cheap-looking offer with a very high excess can cost more after a parking scrape.
On the Udrive catalogue, prefer transparent agencies and check insurance or zero-deposit badges when available.
