Why a card is often required
A card pre-authorisation secures excess and extras. Without a card, the agency must accept another deposit method — that is not systematic.

Realistic options
Some offers accept a cash deposit within a stated limit, or an alternative hold. Others strictly require a card in the main driver’s name.
